ABOUT
We started Caswell in 2019 because we thought there should be more options. Not more boots — better leather. More variety in what was actually available at a reasonable price. We ran a Kickstarter to get it going. It didn't fund. We built it anyway.
The Leather
Traditional boot brands use the same leather from the same large suppliers. It works fine, but it doesn't leave much room for anything interesting. We spend a lot of time finding the stuff that is interesting — smaller suppliers, limited runs, each batch tends to be its own thing, and when it's gone it's gone.
Good leather gets better the longer you wear it. That's really what we're after.
How They're Made
Construction
Goodyear welt. Hand-welt. Built to be resoled.
The core line is Goodyear welted, made in Portugal. The made-to-order line is hand-welted — slower, more involved, built by our small team in Indonesia. Both constructions allow the sole to be replaced when it wears out, meaning the boot can last as long as the leather holds up.
