ABOUT
Our Story
When we started Caswell out of Washington, D.C. in 2019, we had a simple mission: to build a boot that didn't ask you to choose between durability and refinement. We ran a Kickstarter to get it going. It didn't fund. We built it anyway.
As we've grown, we've stayed focused on that same idea, sourcing exceptional leathers from smaller tanneries and building footwear that develops real character the longer you wear it.
The Leather
Traditional boot brands use the same leather from the same large suppliers. It works fine, but it doesn't leave much room for anything interesting. We spend a lot of time finding the stuff that is interesting — smaller suppliers, limited runs, each batch tends to be its own thing, and when it's gone it's gone.
Good leather gets better the longer you wear it. That's really what we're after.
How They're Made
Construction
Goodyear welt. Hand-welt. Built to be resoled.
Each boot in our collection is built to be resoled. The core line is Goodyear welted. Our made-to-order line is hand-welted, slower and more involved, built by our small team. Either way, when the sole wears out, you replace it. The boot keeps going.

Every part of our brand starts here in the District. From design to fulfillment, everything is handled right here at home.
